Fixed Appliances - These will bring about the best result in most cases. They are usually the appliance of choice. Metal brackets are usually used to straighten the teeth. However, clear brackets may be used on the front teeth to improve appearances.
Removable Appliances - These may be used in certain instances. Many times removable appliances are used in conjunction with fixed appliances (braces).
Functional Appliances - These are routinely used in growing patients to correct an imbalance in the relationship of the jaws, usually where the upper teeth are prominent.
Invisible Braces - Such as Invisalign or Essix, this is an invisible way to straighten your teeth. Invisible braces use a series of clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets.

Removal - The
underlying cause of dental irregularity may never go away.
Removal of plastic appliances place the jaw in more
favorable positions, is therefore required to
prevent a relapse. A retention regime will be given to
minimize post-treatment changes. In some cases permanent
retention may be indicated. At times, clear retainers
can be used for retention and are often more acceptable
to the patient.
Sleep Apnea Appliances
(Snoring) - Sleep apnea appliances help create a more open airway, help minimize snooring, and help eleviate night-time breathing problems.
TMJ Splints - These appliances are often used to help correct or minimize jaw problems, discomfort or pain upon closing the mouth. At times, headaches and tenseness of the muscles in the neck and shoulders, as well as the jaws, are associated with the need for these appliances. |
